Welcoming Michigan

Welcoming Michigan is a statewide immigrant inclusion initiative of the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center and a member of the national network of Welcoming America. Launched in 2012, the project aims to foster mutual respect and understanding among U.S.-born and foreign-born Michiganders. Welcoming Michigan partners with community organizations and institutions to create more inclusive policies and practices to help both newcomers and longtime residents feel a sense of belonging in their communities. Welcoming Michigan offers education and training, works to raise awareness, and helps create opportunities for neighbors to meet neighbors. The project also provides technical assistance to more than 20 Michigan municipalities that have committed to institutionalizing policies and practices to advance immigrant inclusion.
